2013! Its been a while...........

It has been a long time since my last post, kind of got lost after Ironman Wales, post blues set in I think. Was having as much rest as possible to try and shake my groin bursitis, 3 months in fact, and got soooooooooooooo lazy. I kept telling myself “shake the injury, come back with a bang”. But unfortunately I have not completely shaken the injury, still have good and bad days.

So after entering Ironman Nice (June 24th) with my mate Phil, I decided to get back training. I have set myself short term goals of 1:30 for half marathon (Llanelli), and beat last years time at Tour of Pembrokeshire (which im riding with Andrew and Phil). I have outlined plenty of local sprint triathlons to keep me busy along with a few duathlons.

I was so enthusiastic that I even went for a run on Christmas day, only 5km but was a start. I then foolishly agreed to try the Twitter Constitution Hill Challenge, which is a tough 2.3mile run up a seriously steep and infamous hill in Swansea, making left turns with each hill repetition, until you have completed all the left side streets, long story short, I underestimated my lack of fitness, quit at less than half way and was sick.
This gave me a royal kick up the arse!
Since then I have done some exercise (since September 16th), slowly building up some general run fitness, bike fitness and I have even swum (once). So now is the time where I have started to increase the hours, hitting around 6 per week, which is ok for now, but that 1:30 half marathon is way off at the moment.

Christmas came and went and plenty of things got in the way of training, including my job.
I have taken the step of having a change in career, leaving my lovely job as a health club Deputy Manager and Personal Trainer and instead shifting completely to HSBC. I needed a new challenge and a change in career as I started to get a little stale, and I always like to progress and have some personal development, and I feel id get these opportunities at a big company like HSBC.

I will be very sad to leave the Dragon Health Club, I have made a lot of friends there over the years, and it will be sad knowing I will not be working with them and seeing them everyday. I have 2 months to annoy them before I leave so lucky them J
I have loved my time working there, I will miss all the members too, it’s a very social gym, unlike any other gym in Swansea, very friendly and everyone knows everyone, so that’s something else I will miss. However I will continue to train here as I am sure they will miss me J

I am also able to continue with my Sports Massage course and will be fully qualified in June; something I do wish to continue along with my Personal training even in my new role. Don’t forget, 30min sports massage is FREE while I am training, so get in touch if I can help.

So, its all systems go, a new job, 2 Ironman races planned (France all booked and Wales on the cards, 99% sure), a few sprint tri’s and duathlons, with a few stand alone runs thrown in (half mara).

Happy training everyone!!
